What do I need before
I call my adjuster?
Pick your insurance carrier and the cause of the damage; the tool generates a checklist of the exact documents, photos, and timestamps your insurer typically asks for before approving a water or mold claim. Bring this list to your call with the adjuster, and you can cut a first-time-right claim from three weeks to one.

Build your claim documentation checklist.
Pick your insurance carrier and claim type. We’ll generate a carrier-specific list of what to document, what to photograph, and what your adjuster will look for. Based on Gateway’s observed workflow with each carrier (not legal advice).
Want Gateway to handle the documentation for you?
We photograph, measure, scope, and submit. Direct-bill where the carrier allows. You pay your deductible, we invoice the rest.

Same policy structure,
different review.
Every homeowners policy in the US has the same broad structure: Coverage A (dwelling), Coverage B (other structures), Coverage C (personal property), Coverage D (loss of use). What changes is how each carrier reviews documentation.
State Farm assigns a dedicated adjuster who calls within 24 hours and works the claim end-to-end. USAA processes most water claims via a contractor-direct payment model, which speeds repairs but requires more upfront scope. Allstate runs a Quick Pay program for documented claims under $5,000 that bypasses in-person inspection. Knowing what your specific carrier weighs heavily lets you front-load the right evidence.
The tool above is built from the actual claim playbooks we use with each of the 10 carriers we work with most often in the St. Louis metro. It is not legal advice and it is not a guarantee of approval, but it is the closest you will get to an internal claim-prep document without working at one of these carriers.
If you would rather have us handle it
We do this on every job.
Gateway Water and Mold works alongside your adjuster on every job. We document mitigation with timestamped photos, scope drawings, moisture readings, and ATP swabs, and submit it directly in the format your carrier expects. Call (314) 947-3419 for an estimate; we coordinate with your insurer at no additional cost.
